How to Use this Worksheet

In this fifth grade math worksheet, students are required to find and write the quotient of 5 digit by 2 digit numbers long division without remainder as like in the given solved example of this online workbook for long division problems. In such problems, the dividend is always 5-digit numbers and the divisor is always 2-digit numbers.

To solve 5-digit by 2-digit numbers long division with no remainder problems, from left to right, check how many times the 2-digit divisor can be subtracted from the first 2 or 3-digits of the given dividend and write it as part of quotient as how many number of times the divisor accommodated in the first 2 or 3-digits dividend. Write the difference between first two or three digits of dividend and the product of divisor & quotient below the line.

Bring down the 3rd or 4th digit of dividend and append this to the right side of the earlier remainder to form the number and check how many times the 2-digit divisor can be subtracted from the new dividend and append the number (how many times in the new dividend) to the right side of the quotient.

In some cases, the new dividend formed by bringing down the 3rd or 4th digit would be smaller than the divisor, so append zero to the quotient and bring down the 4th or 5th digit of initial dividend to form the new dividend which is more than the divisor. Keep doing the same procedure until the you get the remainder is zero.
